The Hummingbird was Gibson's very first square-shoulder dreadnought acoustic guitar and represented a true milestone. Unveiled in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird burst onto the scene and was soon the talk of the country, folk, and bluegrass world for its versatile and robust sound. It was when the rockers and pioneering artists of the 60s and 70s - including Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, and John McLaughlin for starters - got their hands on the instrument that its full potential began to be realized. Today's Gibson Hummingbirds are known for their solid Mahogany body and Sitka Spruce top, mother-of-pearl Parallelogram fretboard inlay, and a pickguard with a beautiful hummingbird motif, just like those groundbreaking original models.
