A Guitar Combo Amplifier has the enclosure cabinet, the power amp section, and speaker(s) all housed together as a single unit. Simply plug the combo amp to power, connect your electric guitar using a 1/4” instrument cable, turn the amp on, and you’re ready to rock! AMS carries a wide range of guitar combo amps of all different types for every player. Tube amps channel signal power through vacuum tubes and are known for their iconic warmth and trademark overdriven tone as you increase the gain. Solid-state amps are less expensive, lighter in weight, and are much easier to maintain due to their use of semiconductor circuits. Modeling amps incorporate the newest advances, using digital technology to replicate a large number of amp sounds, effects, and audio designs.

I know you’re thinking, “With a guitar amp, how big should it be and how many watts will I need?” As a guide, a 15-watt tube amp or a solid-state/modeling amp in the 50 to 100-watt range will have you covered for many applications – plenty of volume for venues of all types that can also be transported and implemented easily. Smaller amps are a bit more stripped down and therefore are better suited for practice, rehearsal, performing in smaller venues, and project studio work. Larger amps often have extra inputs that can provide you with different tonal colors – most commonly in the form of both a ‘clean’ and a ‘drive’ channel – as well as being able to accommodate multiple guitars. These are just guidelines - amps of different build types and different sizes have different tonal characteristics and getting the guitar sound you want is the most important thing when it comes to your music. AMS is here to help you get what you’re looking for!
