What exactly is an in-ear monitor system? It is a package divided into three components – a transmitter box, a bodypack receiver, and in-ear headphones. The transmitter can easily find a home amongst your stage gear or be securely mounted into a half rack space. Using mic cables, simply connect the XLR inputs on the transmitter to the audio mixer XLR outputs geared specifically for monitor mixes. With these in-ear monitor system models, setting up the transmitter is a very straightforward process – you’ll most commonly use a ‘sync’ or ‘pair’ button on the box to find a clear wireless signal and have it join up with the included bodypack receiver. The audio engineer will then be able to set all of the levels to your liking and you’ll be ready to go! The high-quality earphones connect directly to the receiver and brings the audio feed directly into your ears, eliminating the hassle of extra stage and crowd noise. Each type of in-ear monitor system is a bit different, so you’ll need to check out the user manual to get the ins-and-outs for connectivity as well as what you need to know about public use regarding wireless frequencies.
