The Gibson LG-2 was first introduced in 1942 during the “Banner” era and quickly became a beloved small-body acoustic guitar, renowned for its big sound in a compact form. Originally released with mahogany backs and sides paired with red spruce tops, wartime shortages led to material substitutions—some models featured maple backs and sides or even mahogany tops.

Now, Gibson proudly introduces the LG-2 All-Mahogany Faded, a modern reinterpretation of those vintage all-mahogany models. Constructed entirely from solid mahogany—top, back, and sides—this model delivers a rich tonal character rooted in tradition.
The mahogany top is supported by traditional scalloped X-bracing, and the body is tastefully trimmed with simple black binding on the top and back. The mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded profile and is joined to the body using a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. It’s topped with an unbound rosewood fretboard featuring 20 standard frets and elegant mother-of-pearl dot inlays.
The sloped, rectangular rosewood bridge features a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. Grover strap tuners with white buttons ensure reliable tuning stability, while the teardrop pickguard adds a touch of vintage flair.
The LG-2 All-Mahogany Faded offers a warmer, rounder, and smoother tone than spruce-top guitars of a similar size, making it an ideal choice for folk, blues, and fingerstyle players. Its smaller body also makes it more comfortable to hold and play than larger-bodied acoustics.
