Like the PAFs that would follow, the P-90 of the 1950s was essentially wound until the operator felt they “looked right,” leading to a wide array of variance from pickup to pickup. While this makes emulating the P-90 sound of the 50s a fleeting proposition, it also adds to the charm of the era.
