If you’ve ever sought after a vintage acoustic that looks like it has stories to tell but plays like it just left the factory? The Martin 000-16 StreetMaster is exactly what you've been waiting for.
Martin has taken their popular distressed "StreetMaster" finish — previously reserved for the mahogany 15 Series — and applied it to a classic tonewood pairing of East Indian rosewood and Adirondack spruce. The result is a guitar that looks like it’s spent decades in smoky dive bars but sounds articulate, punchy, and rich right out of the box.
Old Soul, New Sound
Achieving the rich, open sound of a vintage guitar typically requires either years of patience or a hefty budget. Martin has solved this with their Vintage Tone System (VTS). By thermally aging the Adirondack spruce top, they mimic the natural aging process, delivering that sought-after, broken-in tone right from the start.
Adirondack Spruce Top with VTS: Known as the "powerhouse" of tonewoods, Adirondack spruce offers limitless headroom and dynamic range. The VTS treatment adds warmth and complexity, removing the stiffness often found in brand-new spruce tops.
East Indian Rosewood Back and Sides: For the first time on a StreetMaster model, Martin uses rosewood to deliver deep, resonant bass and bell-like treble. It provides a bigger, "bassier" sonic footprint compared to the mahogany versions, making it perfect for filling a room unplugged.
Scalloped X-Bracing: Under the hood, the hand-scalloped bracing allows the top to vibrate more freely. This translates to more volume and a quicker response, whether you’re digging in with a pick or playing soft fingerstyle passages.
Superior Craftsmanship
A guitar that looks this rugged needs to feel comfortable enough for a three-hour set, and the 000-16 StreetMaster delivers in spades. It’s designed for the working musician who needs reliability without sacrificing that effortless feel.
000 14-Fret Body Size: The auditorium-style body strikes the perfect balance between comfort and projection. It’s small enough to sit with on the couch or stand with on stage for hours, yet large enough to push plenty of air.
High-Performance Neck Taper: The Modified Low Oval neck profile is slim and fast, while the taper ensures your hand doesn't cramp up as you move up the fretboard. It's modern playability disguised in vintage clothing.
24.9" Scale Length: The slightly shorter scale length reduces string tension, making bends easier and chords feel softer under your fingers. It adds a slinky, relaxed feel to the playability that perfectly matches the guitar's vibe.
Worn-in Aesthetics, Modern Reliability
The "StreetMaster" isn't just a clever name; it's a commitment to an aesthetic that embraces the imperfections of the road. This is an instrument you won't be afraid to take out of the case.
Distressed Satin Finish: The proprietary finish gives the guitar the look of a well-loved companion that’s seen thousands of gigs. Aside from looking incredibly cool, the thin satin coat allows the wood to breathe and resonate more naturally than a thick gloss finish.
Golden Age Relic Tuners: To complete the visual package, the nickel tuners feature cream knobs and an aged patina. They look old-school but offer the precise, reliable tuning stability of modern machinery.
Gig-Ready Portability: Included with the guitar is a durable soft-shell gig bag. It’s lightweight yet protective, making it easy to throw over your shoulder whether you’re heading to the historic Ryman Auditorium or a busking spot on the corner.
Street-Smart and Stage-Ready
The Martin 000-16 StreetMaster is in a class of its own: a premium, professional-grade acoustic that isn't too precious to play. It begs to be played hard, offering the sonic depth of rosewood and the vintage punch of an aged spruce top, all in a package that looks like it's already seen a lifetime of gigs.
