The Wampler Belle is based on a circuit that has existed for many years and in many forms. Dissatisfied with the “hi-fi” sound that plagues most of them, Brian Wampler set out to create the best possible version of this now legendary circuit.
The Belle is the culmination of a decades long quest for the perfect tone. The most notable improvements Brian made to this circuit include adding extra gain capabilities and a bass knob that controls all of the harmonics, from smooth and creamy to tight and crunchy. Just like the gramophone pictured on the enclosure, the Belle exudes classical mechanical beauty, brassy clear tones, and just the right amount deep thumping bass needed to make this overdrive sing.
The Belle circuit is a firm favourite in Nashville and Brian Wampler’s unique take delivers everything you would expect of a Wampler pedal - high quality components, a beautiful enclosure, and above all - glorious tone. When you set the gain low and the bass control up high, the Belle provides a wonderful clean boost sound that can rival any Klone circuit. Spin the bass down and the gain all the way up, and you suddenly find an awesome transparent overdrive / medium distortion sound with all the crunch you need on tap.
The Belle’s Color control is more than just a standard tone knob. Without effecting the critical midrange frequencies, at either extreme you can either boost or cut the high and low end just the right amount. Combine this with the Bass control and you get a very versatile tone shaping palette with Wampler’s legendary ease of use. For some extra, punch engage the push switch on the side of the pedal which controls the amount of compression and clipping structure of the circuit.
