Mic a Drum Kit in 30 Seconds? You Can with Yamaha | NAMM 2026

The engineers at Yamaha are like the mad scientists of the music world. They have their hands in every inch of the music space, from drums and guitars to mics and mixers, and they always put out top-notch gear. That’s why we were super excited to visit the Yamaha booth at NAMM 2026 to see what they cooked up this year.

EAD50 – Advanced Acoustic Drum Mic System

It was hard to miss the Yamaha booth at NAMM 2026 because they had poor Simon trapped in a cage! When we went to rescue him, he said he was in there on purpose and showed us the EAD50, Yamaha’s latest drum capture device.

All you have to do is clip the EAD50 to the kick drum (facing the player), hook it up to the module, and you’re ready to record the full drum kit. You can run any sort of setup you want from the module, including USB out directly to your DAW, XLR to FOH, multiple lines for individual drum recordings — really the options are limitless.

Mic’ing a drum kit is about the most annoying thing in the world, and the Yamaha EAD50 takes the entire process down to about 30 seconds. Imagine the headaches you can avoid!

MGX Mixers – Yamaha Live Sound Goes Digital

The Yamaha MG mixers have been a staple in live sound for basically forever. But now, Yamaha is taking the MG series digital with the MGX.

All the same amazing mixing power, now with a digital brain. It’s the next evolution of digital mixers. SD card recording, dual USB ports, multiple headphone outs, and multiple operation modes that include auto gain and clip-prevention for beginners.

And for all the content creators out there, you can even get an MGX-V that comes with an HDMI port for video capabilities! Choose between the Yamaha MGX12 or the larger MGX16 (each with a V-series variant) to suit any need.

Pacifica SC – T-Style Guitar for the Modern Age

The Yamaha Pacifica has been a fan favorite for years. Its classic looks with modern features and affordable price point make it the go-to for players all over the world. But what if you prefer the look and twangy tones of a T-style guitar? Well, Yamaha brought the perfect solution to NAMM 2026 with the Pacifica SC.

The Pacifica SC is Yamaha’s take on a single-cut T-style guitar. It might look like a Telecaster, but everything else about it is completely unique. Stainless steel frets, ergonomic body contours, locking tuners, Gotoh in-tune bridge, Rupert Neve-designed humbucker, and a boost circuit straight out of the Revstar.

It might look like a classic, but everything about the Yamaha Pacifica SC is straight out of the future.
